July Search Committee Update

Our KAC Search Committee has been meeting nearly every week since May, as we seek God’s will regarding our next Lead Pastor. We began under the leadership of Interim Pastor Bill Murphy, who is experienced in church transition, and formed the Transition Team, and now the Search Committee. Pastor Bill coached us to organize the committee, and to develop and prayerfully consider each step of the process. We met with CMA District Superintendant David Linn, and Dr. Sally Fry from the district, who assists in the hiring process. We had a very helpful meeting with our current staff members, who shared what kind of gifts they hope to find in a lead pastor, and met with Evans Christian, who discussed his experience as a recent candidate, for a unique perspective.
Our group has become very cohesive, and we each take time to pray aloud as we begin each meeting. Our prayers are for discernment, wisdom, patience and unity; and above all, we seek God’s will with every step. We are from varied backgrounds, and our group includes current elders, current Transition Team members, and representatives of several KAC ministries. We have all expressed appreciation for one another, and we have had “joyful communication” as one member dubbed it, considering the privilege we have in recommending a candidate to our elders for final consideration.
In July we officially “launched” with a carefully considered job posting submitted to various social media sites and websites. It is our hope that the posting will be shared numerous times by our members and contacts, in order to reach the man God has already chosen to lead us forward. We have received the first few resumes, and look forward to reviewing and filtering them. We were introduced to the congregation on July 20th, and we are planning to have a representative at the Information Desk, for questions or comments. Committee members are listed below, and we welcome your input. We will be keeping you updated regularly, so please check our communications here, in the weekly Friday e-mails, and in the monthly updates handed out at the sanctuary doors. In the meantime, please pray with us as we move forward in the journey.
